Watercolours
Each of the twelve watercolours in this set are handmade in Assisi according to a traditional recipe of raw pigments, arabic gum, local honey and rosemary essential oil. There is a unique story behind each of the chosen colours.'Burnt Sienna, Mt. Amiata' is created using natural earth pigment from the closed historical quarry near Arcidosso, Monte Amiata, a site to which A. Gallo has special access. 'Rose Madder' is made from the root of the Rubia tinctorum plant, a pigment that was used in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, whereas 'Raw Siena, Badia' is made using natural yellow earth from a historical mine in Badia containing silica and clay. The set includes a Tintoretto Series 1327, a retractable travel watercolour brush made with synthetic fibres designed to imitate squirrel hair.
